Nimo Ali
Ms. Nimo Mohamed Ali is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Candle of Hope Foundation (COHF), a women-led, community-based organization dedicated to uplifting vulnerable populations through integrated programs in economic empowerment, sustainability, protection services, humanitarian response, peacebuilding, and awareness-raising on human trafficking. With a strong commitment to social justice and inclusion, Nimo has spent her career leading grassroots initiatives that confront the root causes of poverty, gender-based violence, child exploitation, and forced migration.
Prior to establishing COHF, Nimo worked for over 20 years in the United Kingdom as a child protection social worker. Her extensive experience in safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and family support systems continues to inform her leadership and advocacy work. This professional foundation has equipped her with a unique and holistic understanding of the intersections between child protection, migration, and community resilience.
Nimo also plays an influential role on both regional and international platforms. She is a member of the Advisory Committee of Freedom Collaborative International, a global network focused on combating human trafficking and exploitation. In her capacity as a regional facilitator for the United Nations Network on Migration, she actively contributes to the promotion and implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM), championing inclusive, rights-based approaches to migration governance.
Grounded in lived experience and community engagement, Nimo’s leadership continues to shape policy dialogues, inform migration narratives, and strengthen systems of protection for children, women, and displaced communities worldwide, leaving no-one behind.
